Benefit – Beyond Mascara “they’re Real!” – Review

It’s been such a long time since I’ve blogged!!  I moved to Taiwan a couple of months ago and am now working hard at my new job as a hair stylist.

Mascara is one of my must-haves in my make up kit because it gives me a quick pick-me-up in only a couple of minutes.  I bought Benefit’s new “they’re Real!” mascara a while ago and had high hopes for it but I prefer the Bad Gal version.  My favorite is the plum Bad Gal mascara as an everyday mascara.

I think the main reason is the brush.  I love applying mascara with the plump bristly brush that Bad Gal provides.  I feel it gives me a lot more volume than “they’re Real”.

With any mascara, if you want more volume, apply mascara to the roots of the lashes first, let dry, then apply another coat from root to ends.  Then repeat if necessary.  Usually, two coats is plenty for me.

If you want a more latex feel in your mascara and like a quick application for a dramatic feel, pick one up at your local beauty store.  Good luck!

New Born Lasting W Brow LB3 Shiseido – Review

Do you prefer pencil, powder, mascara applicator, liquid pencil or wax for your eyebrows.  I’ve used them all and I must say that liquid brow pencil and crayon is one of my favorites.  It is user friendly and helps create a very natural look.  I used to have water in a mini spray bottle to wet my angel brush so I can use my eye shadow as a brow filler.  But, now I don’t need to do that.

New Born Lasting W Brow LB3 has become a must-have for my daily make up routine.  Nice looking brows can help shape and enhance the rest of your face.  Remember to trim and clean it often so they don’t look like they’ve been neglected.

One end of the dual brow filler is a thin, pointed applicator brush that can help achieve a nice line and shape for the end of your brows.  The other end is a twist crayon so you don’t need to sharpen it.

Look at your hair color and use a color that is slightly lighter than your hair color so when you fill in your brows they won’t look like you have a pair of bushy Caterpillars.

Below are some images I’ve taken and I’m apologize for the blurriness as I lost my camera.

Chanel Travel Makeup Palette with Travel Mascara.

I received this recently as a gift and I absolutely love it.  It comes with a blush brush, eyeshadow brush, eyeshadow sponge applicator, and mascara.  I can just put this in my bag and bring it everywhere for a quick touch up or save my life during those rushed mornings to school or work.  If you’re travelling sometime soon, remember to pick one up^^.

Becoming a Hairdresser!

Deciding what you’re passionate about and what to do as a career is a difficult task.  All those career classes in high school did not help at all.  I was way too confused and high on hormones back then to care enough about what’s going to happen in 10 years.  Last year, I realized I wanted to become a hairdresser and today is the beginning of my journey.

There are many options in acquiring your cosmetology certification and I feel that going to school was the right choice for me.  Despite finding so many wonderful cosmetology schools close by, not many were supported by student loan so my choices were limited.

Applying for student loan is not a fun process.  The waiting is absolutely stressful.  Everyday, I’d check the mail to see if I was approved for loan so I can go to school without starving.

Today was the first day of school and I could not sleep on the night before.  While laying in bed I worried about if I had packed all the things I needed and if my alarm clock was working right.

Based on my first impression, the quality of the instructors was very experienced.  Their professionalism and knowledge gives me confidence that I made the right choice in attending their school.

It felt like Christmas today because I received a giant bag of equipment that I will be using throughout my course.  Also, I made a new best-friend but she’s a bit artificial.  Her name is Misa Blanc.  I will be giving her the pamper of her life for the next six months; a complete makeover from head to… neck.  I feel like I am one step closer to becoming a real hairdresser.

Chanel Precision Hydramax + Teinte SPF 15

Tinted moisturizers are a must have in every girl’s skin care routine because it’s the easiest way to achieve beautiful and natural skin without looking like you’re wearing any make up at all.  Plus, most of them have SPF 15+ in them so you can skip the sun block.

The one that matched my skin best was in 10 Sable.  The texture was very moist and easy to apply.  When you are in doubt as to how much you need always start with a small pea-size amount because it’s easier to control that way, plus because this product is a high end product, I like to make sure they last as long as possible.

This is what the skin looks like after application.  Smooth, healthy, and hydrated.  The coverage is very little but does change the overall appearance of your skin.  The product blends so well into your skin that it feels like you’re wearing nothing at all!

This is a great product!  Not only does it smell nice, the moisturizer isn’t too heavy and has not caused me to break out.  It’s great for all those in between days when your skin needs a break or girls who enjoy being au natural.  This bottle lasted me about 6 months but I did not use it everyday.

Remember to finish the look with some loose powder and curled lashes.

I do not recommend this for people who are sensitive to fragrances because it’s pretty strong-smelling.
